Ukraine has harvested a record 44.8 million tonnes of early grains and leguminous crops. This was announced by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Roman Leshchenko during a zoom conference with regional state administrations.
This was stated by Infoindustry news agency with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
"The harvesting of early crops in Ukraine has been completed. On the area of 10.2 million hectares, which is 100% of the forecast, 44.8 million tons of grain have been threshed. The harvest is a record in the history of Ukraine," Roman Leshchenko said.
He added that 32.8 million tons of wheat had been threshed. The highest yield was recorded by agricultural producers in Khmelnytsky region - 65.2 centners per hectare. Barley threshed 10 million 94 thousand tons. The leader is Kyiv region - 57.2 centners/hectare. Peas - 570,000 tons.
The Minister also added that the leader in threshed grain is Odesa region with over 4100000 tons. Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv and Kherson regions threshed 3 million tons of grain.
In addition, Roman Leshchenko said that the harvesting of rapeseed has already been completed and more than 2.8 million tons of seeds have been threshed. The highest yield of rapeseed in Khmelnytskyi (35 c/ha) and Cherkasy (34.2 c/ha) regions.
"Undoubtedly, the coordinated work of farmers, favourable soil and climatic conditions this year, as well as an expanded programme of state support for the agricultural sector were of great importance in achieving such results.
During 7 months of 2021 the agrarians received UAH 546 million for partial compensation of the cost of domestic agricultural machinery and equipment, UAH 565 million under the state credit cheapening program and over UAH 26 billion under the program "Affordable credits 5-7-9%" for refinancing of previously obtained loans, for capital investment and as anti-crisis loans for working capital financing under 0% ", - the minister said.
According to him, it was the first time the Ukrainian agriculture got such an available financial resource for economic activity. It was at the initiative of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky that the programme "Affordable credits 5-7-9%" was expanded to support farmers in 2020.
"This support has already paid off - literally! Therefore, our Ministry will do everything possible to expand this support to 1% of GDP and encourages the Ministry of Finance to retain the "Affordable Loans 5-7-9%" programme for the next calendar period," said Roman Leshchenko.
"Given the poor harvest on other continents, the world price environment is favourable for Ukrainian agricultural products and strengthens our country's role in global food security. According to the agricultural sector, with such state support, in 2021 it can generate more than half of the state currency earnings and provide one fifth of GDP of Ukraine", - concluded the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
